November 6, 2020 – Buddy – “What Outfit, Buddy?”

When I used today’s prompt of “buddy” from Inktober’s list, I loved how warm the word is. But the text it led me to is about the cold, deadly reality of WWI. It was interesting to approach the read so quickly and on the surface when it deserves so much deeper of a dive. In any case, here is a bit of “What Outfit, Buddy?” by T. Howard Kelly (1920). #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 3, 2020: Float – “A Floating Home”

The prompt courtesy of this year’s Inktober list was “float” — a great word to inspire an escape from election-day craziness! The start of “Floating Home” by Cyril Ionides and J.B. Atkins (1918) gives us the text for my recording. I hope it helps start to carry your own mind away to someplace relaxing. #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 2, 2020: Shoes – “The Elves and the Shoemaker”

The prompt “Shoes” from this year’s Inktober’s prompt list took my VOvember recording to “The Elves and the Shoemaker” by the brothers Grimm. It’s a short fairy tale, so I did the whole thing. It was fun to be reminded of how the story goes! #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 1, 2020: Ominous – “White Fang”

Many of my fabu artist friends once again participated this year in “Inktober” — a drawing every day in October to build/reinforce positive habits in their craft. It’s a really cool concept. And each year it inspires me to do the same thing with my voiceover work, and I’m running with that inspiration again this year. With a tip of the hat to Inktober, I call it VOvember – a quick bit of VO work posted every day in November to build/reinforce habits and elements of my art and craft at the mic. Here’s the first one of 2020 (and a nice distraction from everything else this year has given us!). The prompt: “Ominous.” The source: Jack London’s 1906 novel “White Fang”. #VOvember #VOvember2020 #Inktober

Welcome to VOvember!

With many friends who are animators, I get immersed in and entertained by their prolific drawings during the month of “Inktober.”  I was inspired by their efforts and decided to do the same with my voiceover work.  The name VOvember popped into mind (and made me chuckle) since my VO fun follows the month after their Inktober.

So, scroll on down and here’s to VOvember and the creativity and exploration it brings each year!
