November 1, 2021 – Risk – “Running the Blockade”

I really love seeing my awesome artist friends take part in “Inktober” — a drawing every day in October to build/reinforce positive habits in their craft. It’s just the coolest concept. And each year it inspires me to do the same thing with my voiceover work, this year being no exception. With a tip of the hat to Inktober, I call it VOvember – a quick bit of VO work posted every day in November to build/reinforce habits and elements of my art and craft at the mic. Here’s the first one of 2021. The prompt: “Risk.” The source: “Running the Blockade” by Thomas E. Taylor. #VOvember #VOvember2021 #Inktober

November 29, 2020 – Wisp – “Brownies and Bogles”

The prompt of “wisp” for my VOvember recording time today led me to “Brownies and Bogles” by Louise Imogen Guiney (1888) – a book my friends who are fond of fairy folk may know. Here’s a glimpse of their dark side. (Of the fairy folk, not of my friends.) #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 27, 2020 – Fancy – Howard Pyle’s Book of Pirates

Who knew today’s prompt of “fancy” for my VOvember time at the mic would take me to pirates. Specifically, “Howard Pyle’s Book of Pirates” by … yep … Howard Pyle (1903). Howard gets pirates, and he gets us. #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 25, 2020 – Hope – “The House on the Borderland”

“Hope” was my VOvember recording prompt today and it took me to the book “The House on the Borderland” by William Hope Hodgson (1908). Strange, dark, and pretty creepy book apparently. This bit is none of those things — it is just a beginning. #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 24, 2020 – Slippery – “The Trail of the Tramp”

Who knew that my VOvember prompt of “Slippery” today from Inktober’s list would take me to the world of 1930s criminal hobohemia. Yegg is my new word of the day. Here’s a bit of “The Trail of the Tramp” by the famous tramp called A-No. 1, aka AKA Leon Ray Livingston (1913). #VOvember2020 #VOvember

November 21, 2020 – Armor – “The Armourer’s Prentices”

My prompt for today’s VOvember recording of “armor” led me, not unexpectedly, to early Tudor days — a neat book called “The Armourer’s Prentices” by Charlotte M. Yonge (1889). Her goal was to sketch people’s lives in those days. Here’s a glimpse into it. #VOvember2020 #VOvember
